The Peaks Artisan Cheesemakers, Myrtleford, Victoria
Share
Myrtleford sits in the Ovens Valley at the foothills of the Victorian Alps, surrounded by mountains, rivers and some of North East Victoria’s most productive farming country.
Food and farming in Myrtleford
Agriculture has long shaped the region. Today vineyards, orchards, farm gates and small food producers continue that tradition, making Myrtleford a natural food and wine stop along the Great Alpine Road and Murray to Mountains Rail Trail.
The Peaks Artisan Cheesemakers
Luke and Vanessa make small-batch artisan cheese in their micro-cheesery in Myrtleford, using organic cow’s milk sourced from the neighbouring Kiewa Valley. Their cheeses draw on traditional European cheesemaking techniques while reflecting the milk and mountain country of North East Victoria.
You can find The Peaks cheeses at the Bright Farmers’ Market on the third Saturday of each month, the Myrtleford Farmers’ Market on the fourth Saturday, and at La Cigale in Bright.
When to visit Myrtleford & Bright
Autumn brings spectacular colour to the valleys, while winter transforms the surrounding Victorian Alps with snow, making both seasons a beautiful time to explore Myrtleford, Bright and Victoria’s High Country.
