The Peaks Artisan Cheesemakers

Dedication to small scale, local & flavour-led cheese.

The Peaks Artisan Cheesemakers is a small-batch cheese producer in Myrtleford on Dhudhuroa Country, near Victoria’s Alpine region. Founded by Luke Armstrong and Vanessa Lipscombe, The Peaks makes and matures handcrafted cow’s milk cheeses using organic milk from a single Normande herd in the nearby Kiewa Valley.

Their range includes The Mountaineer, a rich Alpine-style tomme inspired by French and Swiss mountain cheeses. Each cheese is made in small batches and carefully matured for distinctive flavour and texture.

Since 2018, they have worked from a micro cheese factory built inside a shipping container, where traditional hands-on methods and carefully managed maturation bring out the character of each cheese.

Luke’s path to cheesemaking began in an Italian cheese shop in Melbourne, then took him through cheesemaking roles across Australia and Europe. Together, Luke and Vanessa make cheese with a clear sense of place: small-scale, flavour-led and deeply connected to the Victorian Alps.
