Woodside Cheese Wrights, Woodside, S.A.
Share
Woodside sits in the Adelaide Hills, about 35 minutes from Adelaide, surrounded by vineyards, orchards, cellar doors and rolling farming country. The town is part of one of South Australia’s best-known food and wine regions, where cool-climate wine, seasonal produce and small food makers sit close together.
Food and farming in Woodside
Agriculture has long shaped the Adelaide Hills. The region’s orchards, dairies, market gardens and vineyards have been thriving for more than a century, helped by its climate, soils and proximity to Adelaide. Today, Woodside is a natural stop for travellers exploring the Hills’ cellar doors, cafés, farm gates and artisan producers.
Woodside Cheese Wrights
Woodside Cheese Wrights has been making artisan cheese in the Adelaide Hills since 1994. Led by Kris Lloyd AM, the cheesery is known for handmade cow, goat and buffalo milk cheeses made with South Australian milk from small neighbouring herds. Their cheeses combine traditional cheesemaking methods with a distinctly Australian sense of place, including native ingredients, seasonal flowers and bold regional flavours.
When to visit Woodside & the Adelaide Hills
Spring brings blossoms, gardens and fresh green hillsides, while autumn is one of the most beautiful times to explore the Adelaide Hills, with cool-climate wines, orchard produce and country drives at their best. Visitors can call into the Woodside Cheese Wrights cellar door for guided cheese tastings, then continue on to nearby wineries, markets and Hills villages.
